Where India’s medical coders actually work: a city-by-city map

If you are planning a career in medical coding, where you live decides which employers you can reach. We built a research directory of 118 coding, revenue-cycle and related employers in India, with sources on every record. Here is what it shows.

The sector keeps changing hands

Ownership moves quickly in revenue cycle management, so an employer’s brand and backer may differ from what an older article says. Examples we found: Access Healthcare took a majority investment from New Mountain Capital in January 2025; AGS Health was acquired by Blackstone in August 2025 per its company timeline; Capgemini completed its acquisition of WNS on 17 October 2025; Sagility is the former healthcare business of Hinduja Global Solutions; and Vee Healthtek, formerly part of Vee Technologies, took investment from TA Associates in November 2024.

Old numbers mislead

Many headcounts online are years old. One widely quoted Omega Healthcare figure, about 4,000 staff each in Bengaluru and Trichy, comes from 2017 coverage. Check the date on any number before you rely on it.

How to use this

• Pick two or three cities you can realistically work in and set a job alert for each.
• Read the employer’s own careers page and recent news, not only a job board.
• Ask in interviews about shift patterns, certification support and who the clients are.
